Orange to Renew Rivalry with Boston College

Syracuse football will once again square off against Eastern rival Boston College on the gridiron. Beginning in 2010, the Orange and the Eagles will play eight games. The Orange owns a 28-17 record against Boston College in the 45-game series that dates back to the first game in 1924, a 10-0 Syracuse victory.
“This is a rivalry that needs to be continued,” said Syracuse director of athletics Dr. Daryl Gross. “Obviously there were some issues that stood in the way with regard to conference affiliation during the past few years. However it is time to move forward to give fans of these schools what they want – a bigtime Eastern rivalry. New York and Boston already have a rivalry in the Yankees and the Red Sox. We look forward to this series becoming similar.”
Syracuse won the last meeting between these teams, 43-17, in Chestnut Hill, Mass. during the 2004 season. That game ended a string of 34 consecutive seasons that the Orange and the Eagles faced each other.
The 2006 Syracuse Orange host #14/15 Iowa in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, September 9. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m. Tickets are available via the internet (click here) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (1-888-DOMETIX).
