Syracuse, N.Y.-Graduate student Alida DiPlacido (Montreal, Quebec) was named the ECAC Division I Diver of the Week for January 23. She earned the recognition after winning both events with school record scores in Syracuse’s dual meet at Boston on January 20. DiPlacido also won the award on December 4.
DiPlacido broke her own school records scores on both boards against Boston. In the one-meter, she broke the record of 301.71 that she set against Colgate in the first meet of the season with a score of 326.10. She is the only diver in Syracuse history to surpass the 300 point mark in the one-meter. In the three-meter, DiPlacido broke the Syracuse record for the third time this year with a score of 358.95. It marked the third-consecutive meet she set the school record in that event. She first broke the record at the Nike Cup in November and surpassed that mark at the Rutgers Invitational two weeks later.
DiPlacido has now won 10 of Syracuse's 12 diving competitions, finishing second in the other two (both at the Nike Cup). Syracuse hosts Seton Hall in a BIG EAST dual meet Saturday. The diving competition begins at 9 a.m., with the swimming portion to follow at noon.
