Five Syracuse teams competed during the week of Jan. 22 through Jan. 28. The SU tennis team joined the Orange swimming and diving, track and field, men's basketball and women's basketball teams in competition this past week, opening its spring season with a victory against Yale.
Swimming & Diving
The Syracuse swimming and diving teams swept BIG EAST foe Seton Hall on Saturday. Graduate student Alida DiPlacido set one school record and broke two Webster Pool records.

Tennis
The tennis team opened its spring season this past weekend, defeating Yale before losing to #37 Maryland on Sunday. Senior Ashley Lipton was emerged victorious in both of her singles match to move into a 10th-place tie in school history for career victories.

The Syracuse track and field teams competed at the Penn State National Open on Friday and Saturday. Junior Jillian Drouin and sophomores Michael LeBlanc and Nana Sang-Bender all set school records during SU's impressive weekend.

Jim Boeheim coach his 1,000th career game for the Orange at Louisville on Saturday. He became the 22nd coach to reach the milestone and only the seventh to do so at one school.

Women's Basketball (8-13, 2-6 BIG EAST)
The women's basketball team hosted South Florida on Sunday before a season-best crowd of 1,934 fans at the Carrier Dome. Junior Vaida Sipaviciute led the Orange with 18 points and moved into a tie for 19th place with 943 career points.
