When the Orange squares off against Buffalo on Saturday, Oct. 20th (4:00 p.m., ESPN U) it will be fourth time since 2000 that the two teams will meet. The all-time series is tied at 3-3-1. Fans can purchase tickets by clicking here or by calling the Carrier Dome Box Office (888-DOMETIX). Fans are encouraged to use the 'Print at Home' ticket feature to avoid waiting in line at the Dome on game day.
The history between the two schools dates all the way back to 1896, when the game ended in a 6-6 tie. The series continued with two games in 1897 and a game in 1899. Buffalo won all three of those games with scores of 16-0, 10-0 and 16-0.
One hundred and one years passed before the Orange and Bulls played again in 2000. The Orange defense forced four fumbles, had two interceptions, a blocked punt and scored two defensive touchdowns in a 63-7 triumph. SU followed with a 37-17 win in 2004 and head coach Greg Robinson earned his first head coaching victory in SU's 31-0 shutout of the Bulls in 2005.
This season Mike William has found a second home for himself located just across the goal line and in the endzone. The sophomore receiver has caught a touchdown pass in each of the last four games and leads the team with five. He is the first Orange student-athlete to have in four-consecutive touchdowns since Quinton Spotwood accomplished the feat in 1997. Williams has hauled in touchdown passes of 10, 17, 43, 61 and 16 yards this season. Williams' 48.3 career receiving yards per game ranks him ninth on SU's all-time list.
True freshman Max Suter will have the opportunity to add to his single-season school record of 748 kick return yards. Suter has consistently flashed kick return brilliance throughout the season. His 198 kick return yards against Rutgers eclipsed his previous single-game mark, a school record, 178 yards against Washington. He became the first player since Kevin Johnson in 1998 to return a kick for a touchdown when he broke for 93 yards at Louisville, earning him BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week.
