Walker-Bidwell Awarded 2007 Emme Entwistle Aronson Alumnae Award

Kristin Walker-Bidwell ‘90 was awarded the 2007 Emme Entwistle Aronson Alumnae award at the 2007 Syracuse Alumni Rowing Association Men’s and Women’s Reunion. The award is given to an alumna who has done great things in her career or in the community.
Walker-Bidwell began her career rowing at Pomfret School and Essex Rowing Club in high school. In 1985, she attended the US Junior National Selection Camp as well as the US Olympic Festival, placing fourth.
During her time at Syracuse and years after, Walker-Bidwell continued to compete in elite camps across the country in cities such as Lake Placid, New York and Boston, Massachusetts. After graduating from Syracuse, she trained at Vesper Boat Club, the National Training Center at the time, and was invited to train with the National Team coach. After spending another year at the National Training Center in Cincinnati and the US Olympic Festival in Newport Beach, Walker-Bidwell retired from rowing and moved to Pelham, New York.
Bidwell-Walker’s professional experience includes work in consumer relationship marketing and advertising. She was employed with Meredith Corporation, Edward S. Gordon and J. Brown/LMC Group. After the birth of her child in 2001, Bidwell-Walker continued her career as a freelance marketing consultant.
She has committed a great deal of time working and volunteering in education-based endeavors. Beginning in 1994 she joined the Junior League of Pelham, serving as a Board Member and Executive Board Member from 2000-04. She chaired the strategic plan committee in 2005-06. She joined the Pelham’s Manor Club in 2002 and became actively involved in its Philanthropy Committee subcommittee of its Evening Section. She joined the Board of Directors as First Vice President and Membership Chair until 2005.
Walker-Bidwell was a founding member of Pelham Community Rowing Association, serving as a former board member and now as an advisory member of the Board of Directors. She currently holds the position of secretary on the executive board of the Colonial Elementary PTA. She is a member of the Citizen’s Nominating Committee, an organization responsible for interviewing and nominating potential members of the Pelham Board of Education, and is serving her second year at the Public Relations position.
She has been married to Jon, also a former rower, for 13 years. They have four children, Ian, 10, Alec, 9, Hayley, 6, and Molly, 2.
