Honorary Captain
The leading scorer and team captain of the 1959 national championship team and now honorary captain, Gerhard Schwedes, will be representing the history and tradition of SU football. As honorary captain, he will address the team, participate in the Quad Walk and accompany captains Jameel McClain and Taj Smith for the coin flip.
Schwedes gained 927 yards on 173 rushing attempts while lettering for the Orange from 1956-59. His 16 touchdowns during the '59 season was a single-season school record at the time and still ranks fourth in SU's season record list.
Fan Appreciation Day
The Orange is giving thanks to the fans for supporting the team. Plenty of prizes will be given away as part of Fan Appreciation Day. Fans will receive chances to win a new computer, XBOX 360, Berkline couch and many other great prizes.
Way Back In 1896
The first game between the two schools was in 1896 and ended in a 6-6 tie. The series continued with two games in 1897 and a game in 1899. Buffalo won all three of those games with scores of 16-0, 10-0 and 16-0.
More than 100 years passed before the Orange and Bulls played again in 2000. The Orange won that contest 63-7 and followed with a 37-17 win in 2004. Head coach Greg Robinson earned his first head coaching victory in SU's 31-0 shutout of the Bulls in 2005.

Running Wild
Junior running back Curtis Brinkley got the ground game rolling last week against Rutgers with 99 rushing yards on only 16 attempts. In the first quarter, he went for 15-yards for his second touchdown in as many games. Brinkley, who leads the team with 331 rushing yards, broke for a career-long 29-yard gain in the third quarter.
Marvelous Mike
Receiver Mike Williams will try and make it five games in a row with a touchdown reception. With his touchdown reception against Rutgers, the sophomore became the first Orange receiver to have touchdown catches in four consecutive games since Quinton Spotwood accomplished the feat in 1997. Williams, who leads the team in touchdowns, has hauled in scoring receptions of 10, 17, 43, 61 and 16 yards. He is second on the team with 22 catches and 360 yards.
Speedy Suter
True freshman Max Suter has flashed several times returning kicks for the Orange this season. Already he has set a single-season school record of 748 kick return yards. His 198 kick return yards against Rutgers eclipsed his previous single-game record of 178 yards set against Washington. When he broke for a 93-yard touchdown at Louisville, Suter became the first Orange since Kevin Johnson in 1998 to return a kick for a touchdown. As a result he was named BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week.
Mr. Jones
Sophomore defensive tackle Arthur Jones ranks 14th nationally with 1.5 tackles for loss per games. Through seven games this season, he has 10.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage for a total of 24 yards lost. Against Miami (OH), he made a career-high three stops behind the line of scrimmage, including his first sack of the year.
