Women's Rowing Opens Season at the Head of the Ohio and Head of the Genesse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women’s rowing team opens its 2007 fall season on October 6 and 7. The women participate in two back-to-back competitions, racing in the Head of the Ohio and then the Head of the Genesee Regatta.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women’s rowing team opens its 2007 fall season on October 6 and 7. The women participate in two back-to-back competitions, racing in the Head of the Ohio and then the Head of the Genesee Regatta.
First up, the team travels to Pittsburgh, Pa. for the Head of the Ohio on October 6. The 21st annual race features a 2.6 mile course on the Allegheny River. Teams will finish in downtown Pittsburgh, just before the merge of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio Rivers. Other schools competing include Villanova, West Virginia, Robert Morris, Penn State, Maryland, and Duquesne.
After competing in Pittsburgh, the team will travels to Rochester, N.Y. to race in the Head of the Genesee Regatta on October 7. In its 19th year, the event will feature two races. SU will compete in a 3 mile course in the morning and then in a 1,500 meter sprint later that day. Last year, the Orange’s two teams finished in first and second place in the overall women’s championship.
SU gets a break after these two competitions. The women’s next competition is not until October 27 when they travel to Philadelphia, PA for the Head of the Schuylkill.
