SU’s home contest against St. John’s on Saturday, January 26 has been selected as one of the ten regular-season BIG EAST Regional Sports Network Game of the Week. The Orange’s home game versus Marquette on Saturday, February 10 is one of the 12 BIG EAST-CSTV Game of the Week and Syracuse’s match up with Georgetown on Tuesday, February 26 have been selected as one of seven regular-season BIG EAST games on ESPNU.
Changes in game times have been made to all three to accommodate television. SU’s contests against St. John’s and Marquette now tip-off at 2 p.m., both games were originally scheduled for 1 p.m. The Orange’s game versus Georgetown begins at 6 p.m. instead of the originally published 7 p.m.
The BIG EAST, for the sixth consecutive year, has expanded its women’s basketball television coverage on the national, regional and local levels. Like in 2006-07, every conference team is included in the regular-season broadcasts and, for the first time in league history, each school will have a minimum of two appearances. The BIG EAST has 101 total appearances, up from 83 a year ago.
The league’s overall exposure has grown in recent years growing from 30 television appearances in 2002-03, to 40 in ’03-04, 58 in ’04-05, 71 in ’05-06 and 83 in ’06-07. This season’s national television package includes: two games on CBS Sports, and 16 appearances on ESPN2, 30 on ESPNU and 25 on CSTV: College Sports Television.
The BIG EAST has its biggest increase on ESPNU, up eight appearances from last season. The network, which can be seen in 20 million homes, will air seven regular-season conference games, four non-conference match-ups, along with the BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals and Semifinals on March 9 and 10, respectively.
CSTV: College Sports Television will once again broadcast a “Conference Game of the Week”. The package will contain 12 conference games, including two Tuesday doubleheaders, during the league schedule and a non-conference contest to be determined. The BIG EAST continues to be the only women’s basketball conference to have a “Game of the Week” package on CSTV, which can now be seen in 22 million homes.
The BIG EAST Game of the Week Regional Television Package is in its second year and features a total of 28 appearances by league schools, including the BIG EAST Championship First Round. ESPN Regional Television (ERT) will once again produce every game and SportsNet New York (SNY) will carry the entire package live in the nation’s number one media market.
Syracuse’s contest against Colgate on Wednesday, November 28 has been moved to Cotterell Court on the campus of Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. due to scheduling conflicts at Syracuse University. Tip-off will be 7 p.m.
The 2007-08 campaign gets underway for the Orange on Friday, October 12 when it holds its first official practice.
All game times for ALL of SU’s games have been set, but are always subject to change.
