SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse volleyball team (18-10, 6-4), currently one part of a three-way tie with Cincinnati and South Florida for the BIG EAST tournament’s five seed, continues a four-match conference road swing on Saturday, November 3 against No. 22 St. John’s at 2:00 p.m. The Orange concludes its regular season away schedule on Sunday, November 4 against Connecticut at 2:00 p.m.

Orange Rewind
Syracuse is currently riding a season-best six-match win streak following back-to-back three-game sweeps at BIG EAST foes West Virginia and Pittsburgh. Head coach Jing Pu, the Orange’s all-time winningest coach, tallied his 400th career coaching victory against the Mountaineers. Senior Cheryl Cobbina powered the SU offense with a team-high 14 kills in both wins. Junior Brittany Kern collected 14 kills, as well, in the win against the Panthers. Redshirt-junior April Quigley led the Orange attack with 40 and 45 assists, respectively. Senior Joscie Kaup recorded 29 digs against WVU and added 21 against Pitt.
No. 22 St. John’s (24-3, 9-1)
The 22nd-ranked Red Storm welcome the Orange to Carnesecca Arena as winners in 15 of the last 16 outings, including five straight. St. John’s lone BIG EAST lost of the season came on October 6 at Louisville.
Hui Ping Huang has powered the Red Storm offense with a team-high 345 kills, a 4.48 kills per game average and a .423 attack percentage. Wioleta Leszczynska has guided the SJU attack with a club-leading 1218 assists and a 13.84 assists per game average. Defensively, Lena Yee leads the St. John’s back-line with 414 digs and a 4.65 digs per outing clip. LaToya Blunt has collected a team-high 99 total blocks.
In St. John’s most recent conference triumph, a three-game sweep of Notre Dame, Blunt led the Red Storm offense with a match-high 12 kills and hit .529. Huang and Leszczynska contributed to the victory significantly. Huang had 11 kills, six digs and four total blocks, while Leszczynska recorded 40 assists, five kills and a remarkable seven service aces. Senior Dana DeMayo and juniors Casie Brooks and Valeria Kovaleva each had 10 kills apiece. Yee led all players with 10 digs.
All-Time Against the Red Storm
In a series that dates back to 1994, Syracuse holds a tight 7-6 advantage against St. John’s. However, the Red Storm will be looking to collect its fifth win on Saturday in last seven outings against the Orange.

Syracuse will look to avenge a three-game sweep against St. John’s on November 3, 2006. Kacie MacTavish led the Orange offense with a team-high eight kills while Samantha Ainsworth and Sarah Morton added six apiece. April Quigley guided the SU offense with 24 assists. Defensively, Joscie Kaup totaled a team-high 21 digs and Sarah Morton collected a team-best five total blocks.
Connecticut (15-9, 5-5)
Prior to hosting the Orange, Connecticut welcomes Marquette to Storrs currently riding a three-match win streak. The Huskies are coming off critical BIG EAST victories against Notre Dame (3-1) and DePaul (3-0).
Sade Chambers’ 267 kills leads four Huskies with at least 200 kills thus far in 2007. Bridget Denson-Dorman has guided the UConn offense with a team-high 1,016 assists and a 12.10 assists per game average. Defensively, Jessica Isaac has collected a team-best 419 digs and a 4.99 digs per game clip while Rebecca Murray has totaled 84 total blocks.
In Connecticut’s three-game sweep of the Blue Demons, Murray led all Huskies with 14 kills while Chambers added eight. Denson-Dorman’s team-high 35 assists powered the UConn offense to a .279 attack percentage. Isaac paced the Huskie defense with 19 digs while Murray totaled four block assists.

In a series that dates back to 1980, the Orange holds a 25-13 advantage, including two of the last three, against Connecticut.
Last Time Out Against the Huskies
The Huskies are looking capture their second straight win against the Orange following a 3-1 triumph on November 5, 2006. April Quigley paced the Syracuse attack and fell just two digs shy of a triple-double with 10 kills, 50 assists and eight digs. Samantha Ainsworth led the Orange offense with a team-high 15 kills. Joscie Kaup collected a club-best 24 digs and Sarah Morton tallied five block assists.
