
Befort Honored By WomensFieldHockey.com

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Freshman midfielder Maggie Befort has been named to the womensfieldhockey.com all-rookie squad, the site announced Tuesday. Befort finished the 2007 campaign ranked 13th in the nation by averaging 1.84 points per game, tied for 14th with 0.58 assists per game and tied for 34th with 0.63 goals per game.
Befort's points per game average ranked her second in the BIG EAST and fourth in goals and assists per contest. The Mechanicsburg Pa., native shattered the Syracuse single-season points and goals by a freshman record when she posted a team-high 35 points and 12 goals. Shelley Magee was the former tenant of the point record with 25 in 1990 and Erica Weinbery owned the goal record with nine in 1982.
Befort became the 12th player in school history to record three assists in a game when she accomplished the feat at Yale on October 14.
Her conference accolades including BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on September 30 and BIG EAST Honor Roll on September 3 and September 10.
