Fantasia Goodwin and the Orange could match a program-best 12-1 start with a win against St. Bonaventure
Ball Drops New Year's Eve In The Dome

Countdown to the New Year has begun and Orange fans can catch the 11-1 women's basketball team in action for the final time in 2007 as head coach Quentin Hillsman's team welcomes the St. Bonaventure to the Carrier Dome on Monday, Dec. 31 at 1 p.m. In the spirit of the New Year here is a 10 to one countdown of points of interest for Monday's hard-court battle.
10. This is the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools in a series that dates back to 1994. The Orange won the first two contests, played during the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons, but the Bonnies won the last two, played during the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons.
9. Syracuse is 6-0 at home this season and 5-0 in the Carrier Dome. The team is averaging 29.2 more points (79.0-49.8) than its opponents in the Dome by shooting 43.6 percent from the floor (133-405), while its competition is posting 31.4 percent shooting (94-299) including only 17.0 percent (17-100) from three-point range.
8. The Orange is averaging 38.3 points in the first half and 37.3 points in the second. Its opponents have posted 27.9 points in the first and 29.5 points in the second.
7. Syracuse is a perfect 11-0 when it outrebounds its opponents and has outrebounded nine of those opponents by 10 or more. SU has eclipsed 50 boards in five games.
6. SU has four players averaging double-figures with junior guard Chandrea Jones leading the way with 15.8 points per game. Senior forward Fantasia Goodwin is next with 14.8 points. Sophomore guard Nicole Michael is averaging 12.4 points and freshman guard Erica Morrow rounds out the group with 11.0 points.
5. St. Bonaventure is off to the program's best start of 11-2 and is riding the waves of a six game winning streak. Dana Mitchell sits atop the Atlantic 10 Conference with 20.2 points per contest. She ranks 26th in the nation in scoring and fifth among second-year players.
4. The Orange received seven votes in the latest AP poll, placing them in a tie for 36th with Florida State. Last week, SU entered the poll with three votes, good for 41st place. Syracuse last received two votes in the AP poll on March 4, 2002.
3. Chandrea Jones leads the team with 15.8 points per game and is second with 9.1 boards per contest. She has scored in double-digits in 11-of-12 games and has scored 20 or more points twice.
2. Fantasia Goodwin, who has a team-leading seven double-doubles, leads the team with 10.8 rebounds per outing and averaged 17.3 boards during the last three outings. Against Saint Peter's on Dec. 16, she set an Orange single-game standard by grabbing 25 rebounds in SU's 81-35 victory.
1. The Orange is on a 10 game winning streak is tied for the longest winning streak in school history. The Orange was a perfect 10-0 during the 1974-75 season. Syracuse has a chance to match a program-best 12-1 record, which was last accomplished at the start of the 1978-79 season.
