Binghamton, N.Y. – The Syracuse track and field teams wrapped up the indoor regular season Friday night, competing in a tri-meet with Binghamton and Albany. The Orange recorded 12 victories at the meet as SU prepares for the BIG EAST Championship.
Binghamton, N.Y. – The Syracuse track and field teams wrapped up the indoor regular season Friday night, competing in a tri-meet with Binghamton and Albany. The Orange recorded 12 victories at the meet as SU prepares for the BIG EAST Championship.
Syracuse’s performance was highlighted by five individuals qualifying for the IC4A/ECAC Championship. Junior Kyle Heath won the mile run in 4:13.00 to qualify for the IC4A Championship. Senior Dan Pribula joined Heath as he won the shot put in 15.86m. Freshman Anthony Socotch also emerged victorious for the men, winning the 1,000m run in 2:39.13.
On the women’s side, three student-athletes posted ECAC-qualifying marks. Freshman Maegan Krifchin qualified by winning the mile run in 5:00.58. In addition, sophomore Nana Sang-Bender won the 1,000m run in 2:53.74 and senior Kyra James finished first in the shot put with a distance of 13.79m to qualify for the ECAC Championship. James also won the weight throw competition with a distance of 15.44.
Other winners on the women’s team included freshman Uhunoma Osazuwa in the 200m dash (26.15), sophomore Stacie Boyle in the 500m run (1:17.63), freshman Jenna Bieri in the 3,000m run (10:19.27), junior Jillian Drouin in the 55m hurdles (8.40) and graduate student Jen Kooken in the high jump (1.65m)
