Orange Football Returns to the Field!

The Syracuse football Orange take the field this afternoon for the first day of 2007 Spring practice. Third-year head coach Greg Robinson and the Orange will host their annual Spring game on Saturday, April 21 at the Carrier Dome. The game begins at 1:00 p.m. and admission is free.
“I am fired up,” Robinson said. “The guys have been conditioning for the past eight weeks and they are ready to get after it on the field. This is the third Spring for us. I can tell today that it is different from where we have been the past two years. I see a bounce in their step – even at 6 a.m. during conditioning. I have seen it all winter.”
The Orange will have to replace starting quarterback Perry Patterson and the entire starting linebacker corps from last year. Syracuse has depth at the running back and receiver spots.
“Throughout winter conditioning, I have watched Curtis (Brinkley), Delone (Carter), Paul (Chiara) and Tony (Fiammetta),” Robinson said. “We have experienced players in the backfield. They are all improving on their physical skills and their knowledge. In the receiving group, when Taj got hurt (last year), it made some others step up. I think with his return that the receiving corps certainly has depth and the group has skill.”
Robinson will also have his eye on the development of the offensive line.
“I am very interested to see the core develop,” Robinson said. “We have five young players who have starting experience and a group of seven young guys behind them who are competitive and talented players.”
Tickets for the 2007 season are available at the Carrier Dome Box Office (888-DOMETIX) and online (click here).
