Watkins' Team Places Fifth At Portsmouth Invitational

Syracuse senior Darryl Watkins tallied 14 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and one block to help Sales System LTD defeat Beach Barton Ford in the 55th annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in Portsmouth, Va., on April 7. The victory gave Sales System LTD a 2-1 record in the event, good for a fifth-place finish.

The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament is a showcase for basketball players in their senior year of college.

Watkins earned four varisty letters at Syracuse. He started the last 28 games of his Orange tenure and 67 games in all. He averaged 8.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a senior. His 112 blocked shots set an SU senior record. He completed his career ranked fifth in career blocks at Syracuse (263) and two of the top seven single-season totals in program history. Watkins ranked seventh among NCAA Division I performers in blocked shot average in 2006-07.
