Pettijohn Earns Arena Football League Honors

Duke Pettijohn, a former defensive end at Syracuse University, and now a member of the Arena Football League’s Dallas Desperados, is a 2007 AFL All-Arena First Team selection at mack linebacker and a 2007 AFL All-Ironman Team as a fullback/linebacker. He is now also in the running for ADT Defensive Player of the Year, which will be announced on July 10. Pettijohn has recorded 43.5 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and six sacks in the season.
The Desperados led all AFL teams with three players on the 2007 All-Arena First Team. Dallas also earned the No.1 seed for the second consecutive season and will continue their play on July 7 with an AFL Playoff game in the Divisional Round at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Pettijohn is in his sixth year in the league. He also earned a place on the All-Arena First Team and the All-Ironman team in 2006 for his outstanding play on both offense and defense.
At Syracuse, Pettijohn ranks third on the school’s all-time sack list, with 24.5. He earned second team All-BIG EAST honors at defensive end as a senior and All-BIG EAST honors as a junior. In his Orange career, he recorded 105 tackles, including 86 solo stops.
