Two Syracuse teams were in action during the opening week of the 2007 fall season. First-year Syracuse head coach Ange Bradley led the Orange field hockey team to a 2-0 start following wins against Colgate and Massachusetts. The Syracuse volleyball team opened the 2007 season with a 1-2 finish at the InnTowner Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
Field Hockey (2-0, 0-0 BIG EAST)
The Syracuse field hockey team, under the direction of first-year Orange head coach Ange Bradley, opened the 2007 campaign with a 6-4 win at Colgate. Freshman Maggie Befort tallied two goals in her Orange debut and senior Gloria Nantulya scored her first career tally against the Raiders. One day later, Syracuse captured its second consecutive win with a 1-0 shutout against Massachusetts. Nantulya's tip-in, off a penalty corner shot from senior Brittany Angellela in the 55th minute, propelled the Orange to victory.

Volleyball (1-2, 0-0 BIG EAST)
The Syracuse volleyball team began the 2007 season with a 3-1 win against Gardner-Webb at the InnTowner Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. Sophomore middle blocker Sarah Morton collected a career-high 19 kills while senior Cheryl Cobbina added 13 kills. In Saturday's 3-2 loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Cobbina (73 attacks) and senior defensive specialist Joscie Kaup (40 digs) set new Syracuse single-match (five games) records. Against No. 11 Wisconsin, Kaup tallied 13 digs en route to garnering all-tournament honors.
