SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Sophomore Kacie MacTavish tallied 12 kills and redshirt-junior April Quigley collected 41 assists in Syracuse’s 3-0 sweep of Albany Monday afternoon at Manley Field House. The Syracuse offensive attack yielded a season-best .277 attack percentage in the win.

"The team was well-prepared and has been fired up to play against all New York state teams," said 13th-year Syracuse head coach Jing Pu. "It really was a great win for us."

Senior Cheryl Cobbina and freshman Mindy Stanislovaitis each posted 11 kills to support the Orange charges. Defensively, Syracuse recorded 61 digs, led by senior Joscie Kaup’s team-high 17. MacTavish contributed 14 digs while Cobbina totaled 13.

"Mindy is really starting to step up and fill the right-side hitting position for our offense," Pu said. "It's very encouraging to see her playing this way."

The Orange played back-and-forth with the Great Danes in game one before taking a 1-0 advantage following a 30-25 triumph. MacTavish led the Syracuse offense with a team-best five kills. Sophomore Sarah Morton added three kills while junior Brittany Kern, Cobbina and Stanislovaitis posted two each.

Stanislovaitis led Syracuse to a 30-23 win in game two after tallying a squad-best six kills. While seven different players registered at least one kill in the game, Quigley tallied 14 assists as Syracuse put the Great Danes in an 0-2 hole and on the brink of a three-game sweep.

Cobbina and MacTavish combined to total 10 kills in the match’s finale. Quigley’s 15 assists were again equally dispersed as Stanislovaitis buried three kills, and Kern and Morton each tallied two. Kaup collected seven digs as the Orange closed out the Great Danes and returned to the .500 mark at 4-4 overall.

The Orange remains at home for the weekend’s two-day Big Orange Tournament. Syracuse welcomes Fordham, Princeton and Texas Tech to Manley Field House for the annual event. Fordham and Texas Tech begin the tournament at 4:30 on Friday before the Orange hosts Princeton at 7:00 p.m.
