SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse women’s track and field team collected 11 event titles, while the SU men grabbed five event crowns in the Syracuse Welcome Back at Manley Field House on Saturday. Veterans Sheron Mark, Ramon Sosa and Bernard Bush led the Orange charges in the second meet of the indoor season.

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse women’s track and field team collected 11 event titles, while the SU men grabbed five event crowns in the Syracuse Welcome Back at Manley Field House on Saturday. Veterans Sheron Mark, Ramon Sosa and Bernard Bush led the Orange charges in the second meet of the indoor season.
Mark posted first-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump with BIG EAST and ECAC-qualifying tallies of 5.70m and 12.48m, respectively. The Orange women swept the top five finishes in the triple jump with senior Kaity Lambracht (11.20m), junior Christina Connolly (11.17m), junior Kayla Carter (11.02) and sophomore Melissa Romero (10.38m) placing second through fifth, respectively.
Lambracht (1.50m) placed second behind sophomore Uhunoma Osazuwa (1.55m) in the high jump. Sophomore Monica Ridgeway completed the women’s solid field efforts with first-place finishes in the weight throw (15.09) and shot put (12.58).
Senior Keisha Townsend captured the 55m hurdle crown with a time of 8.47. Freshman Lareea Chisholm, competing in her first collegiate meet, posted the top time in the 55m dash with an ECAC-qualifying tally of 7.19. Senior Ebony Heckstall placed second in the 55m dash (7.67).
Freshman Samantha Haughton (1:00.01) and sophomore Racquel Clarke (1:00.90) finished one-two in the 400m dash, while junior Lori Robinson (1:22.26) tallied the top time in the 500m run.
Senior Jillian Kosinski placed first in the one mile run with a time of 5:25.86. The Orange claimed the top three finishes in the 1,000m run behind sophomore Deanna Schmitt (3:07.49), junior Anastasia Boyle (3:08.22) and sophomore Olivia Beane (3:09.23).
Sosa and Bush led the Syracuse men’s attack with IC4A and BIG EAST-qualifying finishes, respectively. Sosa claimed the top spot in the 55m hurdles with a time of 7.43, while Bush finished first in the triple jump with a distance of 13.76m.
Freshman Da’Mon Merkerson, also a member of the Orange football team, placed first in the 400m dash with a time of 51.44. Senior Danny Weiss finished second (52.51).
Junior Mike Chitro (1.85m) tallied a first-place performance in the high jump. Sophomore Ryan Johnson (13.92m) and freshman Kwaku Boah (12.55m) posted first and third-place finishes in the shot put, respectively.
Sophomore Jon Buice posted a second-place performance behind Bush in the triple jump with a tally of 13.25m.
The Orange men and women’s indoor track & field team is back in action on Saturday, January 19 at the Cornell Upstate Challenge.
