SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The rv/rv Orange women's basketball team is on the road again as it travels to Villanova on Saturday for a 2 p.m. BIG EAST Conference matchup. Sophomore guard Nicole Michael, who has registered four consecutive double-digit games, leads the Orange in its third road game in four contests. Syracuse stands at 14-3 overall and 2-2 in the conference, while Villanova is 11-6 and 1-3 in the BIG EAST.

The last time the two squads squared off was on Jan. 9, 2007 and the Orange prevailed, 62-51, behind 21 points by Michael. Forward Fantasia Goodwin and guard Cintia Johnson also tallied in the double-figures. Goodwin, a senior this season, had 16 and Johnson, a junior, had 11 points.
This season Michael is third on the team averaging 12.5 points per game and second with 7.9 rebounds per outing. In the last four outings she has averaged 14.3 points and only junior guard Chandrea Jones averaged more with 19.0 points.
Jones leads the team with 16.5 points per game and is third with 7.8 rebounds per outing. She is shooting 40.2 percent (94-234) from the floor and has made a team-high number of free throws, going 79-for-106, good for 74.5 percent.
In the Orange's last outing, a 65-59 loss in front of a women's basketball record-setting crowd of 4,221 against top-ranked Connecticut, freshman guard Erica Morrow scored eight points in 37 minutes of play and made a career-high tying five steals. This season she is averaging 11.6 points and 2.1 steals per game.
The Wildcats have lost four of their last six contests including a 69-58 loss at No. 17/15 Notre Dame on Jan. 16. Junior forward Laura Kurz scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-15 (.600) shooting. Villanova is 6-2 at home inside the Pavilion and beat Georgetown, 57-51 in its last home contest on Jan. 12.
Senior forward Stacie Witman is averaging a team-best 15.6 points per game and is shooting 45.8 percent (92-of-201) and 40.4 percent (44-of-109) from three point range.
Syracuse has played Villanova and St. John's more than any other BIG EAST foe, facing each club 48 times coming into the season. The last time Syracuse played at Villanova was during the 2001-02 season, when the Wildcats sneaked past the Orange with a 66-62 win.
