Syracuse kick returner Max Suter (Ruffs Dale, Pa.) is a 2007 Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American. He was named to the team as a kick returner after setting the NCAA, BIG EAST and Syracuse single-season record for kick return yards with 1,299 kick return yards on 51 attempts. His 25.5 yards per return ranked second in the BIG EAST and 35th nationally.
Suter, a 2007 All-BIG EAST First Team honoree, completed the trifecta for participation during his true freshman season, playing safety, running back and kick returner for the Orange. At Louisville, the true freshman took a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and set the Syracuse record for kick return yards in a game with 198, en route to earning the BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week honor. Suter also set the Syracuse single-season standard for kicks returned (51). His 25.5 yards per return average is fifth on the Orange single-season and career record lists. Suter led the Orange with 1,337 all-purpose yards and his average of 111.4 all-purpose yards per game ranked fifth in the BIG EAST.
Suter and the 2008 Syracuse Orange begin Spring practice in March.
