
Orange Hosts Division Leader Marquette on Sunday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse is back in action at the SU Soccer Stadium on Sunday when it hosts Marquette at 1 p.m. Marquette leads the BIG EAST’s American Division with a 4-1-1 record in league play. Overall, the Golden Eagles are 8-4-2. The Orange ranks fifth in the American Division with a 1-3-1 mark against BIG EAST opponents and is 4-6-2 overall.

The Orange had its home unbeaten streak at home snapped on Friday with a 1-0 loss to South Florida. Syracuse is 4-1-2 on its home field this season.
THE SERIES
The Orange has never beaten Marquette, trailing in the series, 0-2-1. All three previous meetings have gone to overtime. In 2005, Marquette scored in the 96th minute for a 2-1 win on its home field. The next season, neither team scored during regulation at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Golden Eagles found the back of the net 22 seconds into overtime for a 1-0 win. Last season, the teams played to a 0-0 draw in Milwaukee.
CAPPELLI IN RARE COMPANY
Senior Lauren Cappelli made her 69th career start in Syracuse's contest against South Florida. That total ranks eighth on the Orange's leader list for career starts. Cappelli has started every game she has played during her career at Syracuse.
