
Orange Returns Home to Face South Florida

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women’s soccer squad tries to stay unbeaten at home when it hosts South Florida on Friday at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange enters the contest with a 4-5-2 overall mark and a 1-2-1 record in BIG EAST play. South Florida has a 6-3-3 record this season, including a 2-2-1 mark against league opponents.

THE SERIES
Syracuse is 2-1-0 all-time against the Bulls. All three games between the two squads have been decided by one goal. The teams first met in 2005 – a game that was played at Marquette. The Orange prevailed, 3-2. In 2006, Syracuse defeated South Florida, 1-0 as Eliza Bennett-Hattan recorded seven saves for her sixth shutout of her freshman campaign. The Bulls notched their first win in the series last season with a 1-0 victory in Tampa. Bennett-Hattan made eight saves in the loss.
HOME SWEET HOME
After playing two consecutive road games, Syracuse returns home for four straight. The Orange is unbeaten on its home field in 2008. The four wins at the SU Soccer Stadium this season is the most for Syracuse since it won five games at home during the 2004 campaign.
STREAKS CONTINUE
Three Orange seniors have extended their streaks of starting every game in which they have played at SU. Lauren Cappelli has started 69 straight games, while Sarah VanSickle’s streak stands at 67 games, Karrah Benson has been in the starting lineup in 66 straight contests
