SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse swimming and diving wrapped up the third and final day of the Gamecock Invitational on the campus of the University of South Carolina. The Orange had a number of high finishes and several swimmers qualified for the 2008 Short Course Nationals in their events.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse swimming and diving wrapped up the third and final day of the Gamecock Invitational on the campus of the University of South Carolina. The Orange had a number of high finishes and several swimmers qualified for the 2008 Short Course Nationals in their events.
Junior Boldiszar Kiss and sophomore Kuba Kotynia each turned in second places finishes in their respective events and qualified for the S.C. Nationals. Kiss turned in a time of 1:48.60 in the 200 fly, while Kotynia finished the 200 breaststroke in 2:00.23. Sophomore Berk Kahraman and junior Alex Taraskin also qualified for the S.C. Nationals. Kahraman finished the 200 back at a clip of 1:49.81 and Taraskin finished fourth in the 100 free with a time of 45.43.
The team of Taraskin, Kahraman, senior Matthew Brock and Kiss qualified for the S.C. Nationals in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The group finished in 3:04.91.
The top representative for the women in the final day of competition was sophomore Katlin O'Hara. She finished fourth in the 100 free with a time of 51.76, good enough to qualify for the S.C. Nationals.
The Orange will have the next two weeks to prepare for the nationals which take place Dec. 4-7 in Atlanta, Ga.
