SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Tyler Ash, a local guard from Liverpool, New York, joins the freshmen class at Syracuse. A soccer player her whole life, Ash never was never serious about basketball until she got taller, which she believes jumpstarted her career.
As a Liverpool High School graduate, Ash is a recognized player in the Syracuse community. She was named The Post-Standard’s 2007-08 All-Central New York Player of the Year – the first to play at Syracuse. The highly-esteemed player is ranked No. 24 nationally, and No. 9 among guards by College Girl’s Basketball Report.
Although she never regarded herself as an Orange fan, she believes it now means something to play for her home team. Head coach Quentin Hillsman also contributed to her decision to join the Orange.
“He told me that it was a program that he’s building up. He told me that I could be a part of that, instead of being on a team that always wins and everyone is an All-American Player,” Ash said.
Ash is anxious to get on the court to start playing, and with the help of Hillsman and her teammates, hopes to win a national championship.
