
Morrow Helps SU Escape Olean With 69-68 victory

OLEAN, NY -- Erica Morrow scored eight of Syracuse's final 11 points, all in the final 3:01 of play, to lead the Orange (10-2) past St. Bonaventure (8-4), 69-68. Morrow, who finished with a team-leading 23 points, converted to free throws in the final seconds to secure the triumph.
"Erica's a big-time player," noted Syracuse coach Quentin Hillsman. "She took every opportunity to will us to win."
Syracuse trailed by as many as 12 points in the contest and did not take the lead until Morrow's two free throws with 3:01 left put the Orange ahead, 60-59. The host Bonnies answered with a basket but Tasha Harris drained a three-pointer to give SU a 63-61 advantage.
Juanita Ward had 13 points and 11 rebounds, Chandrea Jones contributed 13 points and nine boards, and Lisa Listed posted season-high efforts with seven points and seven rebounds.
Syracuse closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday when it hosts Princeton at the Carrier Dome. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
