SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men and women’s indoor track & field teams return to action on Friday, February 8 at the 8th Annual New Balance Collegiate Invitational. The two-day event expects to welcome more than 100 schools and will be held at the Armory Track in New York, N.Y.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men and women’s indoor track & field teams return to action on Friday, February 8 at the 8th Annual New Balance Collegiate Invitational. The two-day event expects to welcome more than 100 schools and will be held at the Armory Track in New York, N.Y.
In addition to the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, the Orange will head south down Interstate-81 for the third time this indoor season for the Cornell Open on Saturday, February 9.
Syracuse is coming off an action-packed weekend, headlined by graduate Jordan Davis senior Kyle Heath and senior Ramon Sosa. Davis’s second-place finish and time of 4:02.79 in the one-mile run at the Giegengack Invitational toppled a 36-year old SU school record, set by Bruce Fisher in 1972. Heath finished third and matched Fisher’s mark with a time of 4:04.30.
Sosa collected his third championship of the indoor season, finishing first with a time of 7.84 seconds in the college division 60m hurdles at the nationally acclaimed Millrose Games.
Senior Jillian Drouin highlighted the Syracuse attack at the two-day Syracuse Invitational. She finished first with an ECAC-qualifying performance of 3,862 points in the women’s pentathlon. Drouin led four members of the Orange in the top four finishes, as sophomore Uhunoma Osazuwa (3,699) placed second and senior Kaity Lambract (3,602) finished third.
Graduate Sheron Mark captured her third long jump and triple jump crowns of the indoor season with first-place performances at the Syracuse Invitational. Mark posted ECAC-qualifying tallies of 5.94m and 12.57m in the long jump and triple jump, respectively.
Freshman Da’Mon Merkerson qualified for the IC4A and BIG EAST Championships in the 400m with a first-place time of 48.99 seconds.
Following the weekend, Syracuse prepares for the Binghamton Triangular on Saturday, February 16.
