COLUMBUS, Ga. – Junior designated player Jorden Rosen hit her first homerun of the season in the Orange's 8-2 setback against No. 18/18 Mississippi State on Saturday at the NFCA Leadoff. Rosen sent a one-out shot over the leftfield fence with one runner on in the second. The homer is the fourth of her career.
Junior catcher Amy Kelley, who is second on the team with six hits, singled right before Rosen's at-bat.
Mississippi State manufactured three runs in the first and second innings and added one in the third and sixth.
Sophomore Brittany Gardner pitched 7.0 innings, striking out four and allowing five earned runs.
Syracuse returns to the diamond on Saturday when it faces Nebraska at 6 p.m.
