Inside Look At Three Of Women's Soccer NLI Signees

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Taylor Chamberlain, Casey Ramirez and Tina Romagnuolo make up three-fourths of the Orange women's soccer's 2008 national letter of intent signing class, assistant coach Robyn Pepicelli announced Wednesday. Chamberlain, a midfielder, comes from Christian Brothers located in Sacramento, Calif., while Ramirez, a midfielder and defender, arrives from The Pennington School, a prep school in Pennington, New Jersey. Romagnuolo, a midfielder, hails from Stouffville, Ont., and is a member of the Canadian National Training Centre.
Chamberlain lettered for Christian Brothers all four years and served as a team captain her junior and senior seasons. In 2006, she helped lead her team to the Sierra Valley Conference Championship, while earning all-league accolades. Also during her junior year, she was selected all-city honorable mention and to the St. Mary's All-Tournament Team. She was first named all-league her sophomore year.
As a team captain her senior season, Ramirez helped lead her team to a 19-3-0 record to the New Jersey Prep "A" State Title for the fourth consecutive year. Her team ranked nationally the entire season and never dipped lower than 17th. She also won the Mercer County Championship her senior year. In 2006, Pennington School won the McDonough Tournament and in 2006 it claimed the Mercer County Championship, the McDonough Tournament Championship and was ranked number one in the country. Ramirez was selected to the Trentonian First-Team All-Prep "A" team as a defender in 2007 and as a midfielder in 2006.

Romagnuolo has been a part of the Canadian National Team program since 2005. In 2005 she participated in the U-15 Girls National Team Tour Leipzig, Germany. In 2006 she participated in the U-16 Girls National Team Tour in Frankfurt, Germany. Also in 2006 she was invited to the U-18 Girls National Team Camp in Newfoundland, Canada and was also invited to National Team Camp again in British Columbia, Canada.
In 2007, Romagnuolo played for the Toronto Lady Lynx of the W-League and was named team rookie of the year. She was recognized as W-League Player of the Week after her two assist performance in her team's 4-0 win against Rochester. In 2005 and 2006, she helped guide the Richmond Hill Club Team to the Ontario Youth Soccer League Champion. As a captained for the team in 2006, she was named team most valuable player..
The Syracuse women’s soccer team finished with a 7-8-4 overall record, a 3-6-2 conference mark and tied for fifth in the BIG EAST American Division.
