SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse tennis team (8-11, 5-4) collected its second win in as many days with a resounding 7-0 victory against in-state foe Colgate (7-5, 0-0) at the Drumlins Tennis Center on Wednesday. The Orange concluded its non-conference schedule with its fifth 7-0 sweep of the season and sixth win at home in seven tries.

Sophomore Ashley Spicer ignited the Orange’s singles efforts with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at the No. 4 position against Cameron Williams. She improved her record to 11-8 overall and 11-3 in the four-hole with her third-straight win.
Classmate Chelsea Jones was the second player off the singles courts after a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 against Jackie Stimmel, lifting her season mark to 10-8.
Junior Maria Vasilyeva continues her stellar play, notching her 14th win of the season and fifth consecutive with an efficient 6-1, 6-1 triumph at the No. 3 spot against Isabel Riemer.
Freshman Simone Kalhorn totaled a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 2 position against Samantha Inacker. Rookie team captain Christina Tan tallied a 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) win at No. 1 against Elise Derose.
Freshman Jacquelynn Tang battled Stephanie Bender to a 6-4, 0-6, 13-11 win at the No. 6 position, improving her record to 12-7 with her third triumph in a row.
The Orange jumped on Colgate early, capturing the doubles point for the second-straight match. Vasilyeva and Tan overcame three deficits and trailed 6-5 before collecting an 8-6 victory at the No. 3 position against Reimer and Stimmel.
Jones and Spicer posted their third win in three matches, rallying from a 3-0 hole before posting an 8-5 triumph at the No. 2 spot against Bender and Williams.
Kalhorn and Tang suffered an 8-1 setback at the No. 1 position against Derose and Inacker.
In exhibition singles action, Syracuse freshman Katlyn Haycock defeated Colgate's Jen Marquit, 8-1.

Syracuse resumes its season-best five-match homestand and BIG EAST schedule against St. John’s on Saturday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. Orange fans are invited to take part in a “return-a-serve” contest with second-year head coach Luke Jensen. Possible prizes will included a signed autographed racquet. All proceeds will benefit the Orange Initiative.
