Syracuse Owns Top Spot in Coaches Poll for Third Straight Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. –The Orange was voted the top team in the nation for the third straight week on Monday, April 14. Syracuse garnered 234 points in the USILA Coaches Poll to hang on to the No. 1 spot by one point. Duke, which routed Virginia Saturday, is No. 2 with 233 points. Each club got six first-place votes in this week’s rankings.
In this week’s Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, Syracuse maintained its No. 2 ranking with seven first-place votes and a total of 349 points. The Blue Devils are ranked No. 1 for the second consecutive week in the media poll. The Blue Devils checked in with 353 points and 11 first-place nods.
Cornell, Virginia and Georgetown rounded out the top five in the coaches poll. The Big Red and Cavaliers switched positions in the media poll with Virginia listed third and Cornell fourth. The Hoyas were fifth in the media rankings in addition to the coaches rankings.
Syracuse returns to action on Friday, April 18 when it hosts Albany at 7 p.m.
