Women's lacrosse has set the tone for the rest of Orange sports still competing by winnings its second consecutive BIG EAST Title with an emphatic 12-6 victory against Georgetown. The softball team earned its fourth consecutive playoff berth with its fourth BIG EAST sweep of the year and its sixth consecutive conference victories. Men's rowing claimed the Conlan Cup, a trophy pitting the Orange against Boston University, and the women's team finished third at the BIG EAST Championships. Track and field had a handful of NCAA Regional Qualify time and the 4XMile group finished third at the Penn Relays.
Carrying the momentum of a 19-7 win at Cornell and a 22-7 victory against Rutgers in the conference semi-final game, the women's lacrosse team defended its BIG EAST title with a 12-6 win against Georgetown in the finals hosted by Notre Dame. The team scored eight consecutive goals in the second half to cruise to a 12-6 win and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Junior Katie Rowan earned the BIG EAST Championship's Most Valuable Player award after setting a tournament record with 13 points in two games. She joined seniors Kristin Brady and Christina Gibson and sophomore Christina Dove and freshman goalkeeper Liz Hogan on the All-Tournament Team.

Complete 2008 Women's Lacrosse Schedule
The 11th-ranked Syracuse retained the Conlan Cup for the third straight season defeating No. 17 Boston University. The Orange posted its 11th-consecutive cup victory. Columbia won the varsity eight race, but he Conlan Cup is a competition solely between BU and Syracuse. The Orange swept the remaining three races, winning the second varsity eight, freshman eight and second freshman eight race.
The second varsity eight boat of Jack Mutty (coxswain), Mike McHarris (stroke), Clai White (7 seat), Noah Chase (6 seat), Pete Kruse (5 seat), Ryan Knapp (4 seat), Ryan Planer (3 seat), Cam Mackenzie (2 seat) and Mark Vyzas (bow) defeated both BU and Columbia with a time of 5:55.1. The Terriers finished in 5:58.9 and the Lions in 6:27.5.

Women's Rowing
The women's rowing squad's varsity four and second varsity four both finished second, giving the Orange a third place finished with 92 points at the BIG EAST Championship. The varsity four of Lydia Wong (coxswain), Jacque Lee (stroke), Julia Ruskin (3 seat), Allison Ehrke (2 seat) and Anne Van Houten (bow) finished the course in 7:59.25. ND paced the field at 7:43.00
The second varsity four of Emily White (coxswain), Zaula Usman (stroke), Susan Groff (3 seat), Brittany Jock (2 seat) and Mandy DeHaven (bow) posted a time of 7:58.38. ND was first at 7:51.30.

Complete 2008 Women's Rowing Schedule
The Orange softball team claimed two BIG EAST victories at Pittsburgh, 5-3 and 2-1, to clinch a spot in the 2008 BIG EAST Championships. After suffering a 4-3 defeat at Canisius on Wednesday, the SU rebounded in Pittsburgh. Syracuse will be making its fourth consecutive appearance in the conference tournament and its fifth appearance ever.
Leading the charge was junior shortstop Jamie Kelling who totaled a .500 average behind six hits and two RBI for the week. She led off against Canisius with a double and scored two at-bats later. During game one against Pittsburgh, she drove in the game winning runs with a single to leftfield to score two. In game two, she led off the outing with an infield single and eventually came around to score. Sophomore pitcher Brittany Gardner and senior pitcher Chanel Roehner combined for a 1.40 ERA and 12 strikeouts.

Track and Field
The track and field team competed at the Penn Relays and the Cornell Big Red Invitational during the week. Graduate Sheron Mark posted two NCAA regional-qualifying marks in the long jump (6.04m) and the triple jump (12.75m) at the Penn Relays. Senior Jillian Drouin qualified with a 1.75m mark in the high jump. Senior Ramon Sosa (110m hurdles, 14.16) and sophomore Annabelle Pellerin (high jump, 1.75m) posted qualifying marks at the Big Red Invite at Cornell.
The Orange, comprised of four NCAA Regional qualifiers in sophomore Dan Busby, graduate Jordan Davis, junior Jeff Scull and senior Kyle Heath, finished third in the 4xmile with a time of 16:31.99.
