SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse freshman forward Donte’ Greene has declared himself eligible for the National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft.
"After discussing my future plans with my family and Coach Boeheim, I've decided to declare for the NBA draft,” Greene said. “The Syracuse coaching staff is going to gather information on my behalf and help me begin that process."
A native of Baltimore, Md., Greene ranked fourth in the BIG EAST, averaging 17.7 points, and totaled 7.2 rebounds per game during the 2007-08 season. He earned second team all-conference honors and joined classmate Jonny Flynn on the All-BIG EAST Rookie Team. Greene was a five-time BIG EAST Rookie of the Week selection. He was named All-District II by the US Basketball Writers Association and tabbed a second-team Freshman All-American by rivals.com.
Greene and Flynn ranked second nationally among rookie scoring duos with a combined 33.2 points per game. He established a single-season school record by a freshman with 90 three-point field goals, surpassing former SU great Gerry McNamara.
Following an 81-77 loss to Massachusetts in the quarterfinal of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), the Orange finished with a 21-14 overall record in 2007-08.
