SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Members of the Syracuse national championship men’s lacrosse team will visit our nation’s capital on Tuesday, June 24 to tour the White House and meet with President George W. Bush for NCAA Champions Day.
The Orange will join 18 other championship teams that will be honored. Tuesday’s event includes photos with the President, a guided White House tour and the President’s remarks on the South Lawn. Each squad will also present President Bush with a gift.
Syracuse won its NCAA record 10th national title with a 13-10 victory against Johns Hopkins on Memorial Day at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. The victory capped a 16-2 season for the Orange that included a 10-game winning streak.
Tewaaraton Trophy winner Mike Leveille (Delmar, N.Y.) led the Orange in 2008 with 83 points, including 49 goals. Leveille was named the NCAA Championship’s Most Outstanding Player.
