SYRACUSE, NY – For the fifth straight season, the Syracuse men’s basketball team will open its campaign with exhibition games against Division II foes. This November the Orange will host Cal State-Los Angeles on Monday, November 3, at 7:00 p.m., and Indiana-Pennsylvania on Sunday, November 9, at 2:00 p.m. Both exhibition games will be contested in the Carrier Dome.
Cal State-Los Angeles is coached by former Syracuse standout Stephen Thompson. The Golden Eagles were 17-11 a season ago and won five of their last seven games. Thompson, who was an assistant with the program before his promotion to head coach, guided the squad to back-to-back 10-17 campaigns in his first two seasons before the dramatically improved mark of a season ago. Syracuse defeated Cal State-Los Angeles in a 2006 exhibition game, 99-51.
Indiana-Pennsylvania was 13-15 and qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Playoffs last winter. It marked a seven game improvement over the previous campaign for the Crimson Hawks. The program is guided by former Pittsburgh assistant Joe Lombardi.
