COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The No. 18 Syracuse field hockey team won a 5-0 contest against No. 8 Old Dominion Sunday afternoon in a neutral site contest at Ursinus’ Eleanor Frost Snell Alumnae Field. The Orange was held scoreless, 0-0, at halftime, but scored five unanswered goals in the second half.
“We played really well defensively,” head coach Ange Bradley stated. “We had several opportunities during the first half and just could not breakthrough. We kept the defensive pressure up during the second half and it resulted in goals.”
Sophomore forward Lindsey Conrad recorded a hat trick in the SU’s 2008 debut. The Lady Monarchs meanwhile are now 0-2.
“It felt amazing to play again, it was really excited to be back on the field,” Conrad said. “My teammates had some great hits and I was in the right place at the right time. All the credit goes to my teammates.”
After a scoreless first half of action, Syracuse broke the scoreless tie with 29:14 left after being awarded a penalty stroke. Freshman midfielder Martina Loncarica converted her attempt for the first of her two goals on the afternoon.

Syracuse and Conrad found the back of the ODU cage yet again three minutes later. Sophomore forward Shelby Schraden passed the ball across the front of the Lady Monarch goal where Conrad fired through into the cage.
