The game will mark the sixth meeting between the two squads, with Syracuse boasting a 3-2 advantage.
Behind a game-high 19 points by Fantasia Goodwin and 15 points by Chandrea Jones, the Orange defeated St. Bonaventure 72-57 last season on New Year’s Eve in the Carrier Dome. The Orange won also the first two meetings against Bonnies during the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons, but St. Bonaventure took home the next to encounters during the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons. SU is 1-1 all-time in Olean.
Under the guidance of head coach Jim Crowley, the Brown and White have enjoyed great success outside of the A-10 over the past two seasons with wins in 16 of their previous 19 non-conference contests, including five straight triumphs at the Reilly Center. St. Bonaventure established a program record last year with 12 victories before the beginning of league play.
All-Atlantic 10 second team selection and conference scoring champion Dana Mitchell leads the cast of returnees as the Bonnies bring back all five starters and nine letterwinners from last season's record-setting 18-12 campaign. Four freshmen join the Bona roster this fall as well as the return of senior point guard Priscilla Edwards and redshirt freshman Armelia Horton, who missed a combined 51 games in 2007-08 due to injury.
