SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior place kicker Patrick Shadle was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll on Monday after converting two 44-yard field goals and scoring seven points in a 55-13 loss to No. 17/17 Penn State.
Shadle moved into seventh place all-time after making his second field goal of the contest, surpassing Tim Vesling with 29 total career field goals.
The Morgantown, W.Va. native is SU’s career leader in field goal percentage (29-of-36, .805) and has tallied 137 career points for Syracuse. Shadle was nominated to the BIG EAST honor roll with Connecticut’s Darius Butler and Tyler Lorenzen, Rutgers’ Kenny Britt and USF’s Matt Grothe.
Connecticut running back Donald Brown, USF safety Nate Allen and USF kicker Maikon Bonani have been chosen as the recipients of the BIG EAST Conference’s weekly football accolades following games of Sept. 13.
Syracuse has landed a spot on the BIG EAST honor roll for the third consecutive week. Senior tailback Curtis Brinkley was nominated for his career-high of 143 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown in a 42-28 loss against Akron. Senior strong safety A.J. Brown was named to the list last week after his conference-leading 11 tackles with an interception in a 30-10 setback at Northwestern.
Saturday, Sept. 20, marks the third match of SU’s four-game home stand when the Orange faces-off against the Northeastern Huskies for the first time in school history. Game time is set for 3:30p.m. at the Carrier Dome.
