SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Despite waking up to very rainy weather, the Syracuse University softball team headed to neighboring Cornell for its second-consecutive weekend of fall ball action. The Orange earned its fifth win of the fall season against Binghamton after suffering a rain-soaked, 5-4, setback to Cornell earlier in the morning.
Junior Brittany Gardner was the starting pitcher for the Orange against Cornell and covered the first four innings. Freshman Gaby Torzilli finished out the final three innings of the game for Syracuse. Highlighting the game for Syracuse was freshman Kelly Saco’s two run homerun. Saco would close out the day with a team-high, five hits.
In the 6-2 win against the Binghamton Bearcats, freshman Jenna Caira pitched for the first five innings, while sophomore Angie Sagnelli came into the game for the final two innings. Senior Lindsay Wasek hit two doubles against the Bearcats.
Before returning home tomorrow, the Orange will head to the Hoffman Challenge Course for a day of team-building. The Orange will host its own fall ball weekend next weekend with action beginning Friday, October 3.
