MORGANTOWN, W. Va. -- Syracuse goes for its third straight win when it takes on #11/13 West Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Morgantown, W. Va. The Orange enters the contest with an overall record of 4-3-2, while the Mountaineers are 5-0-3 this season. Both teams have a 1-0-1 mark in BIG EAST play.
THE SERIES
The Orange won the first three meetings between the two schools, but trails in the all-time series, 4-3-2. Last season the teams played to a 1-1 tie at the SU Soccer Stadium.
AND THE BEAT GOES ON
Syracuse posted its fourth straight shutout in its 1-0 victory against Pittsburgh. It marks the first time the Orange has shut out four straight opponents since the 1996 campaign, the program’s inaugural season. That year Syracuse recorded six straight shutouts and seven overall.
FRESHMEN MAKING THEIR MARK
Three of Syracuse’s top five scorers this season are freshmen. Taylor Chamberlain’s two goals is tied for second on the team and her four points ranks third. Amanda Morris and Casey Ramirez each have a goal and an assist and are tied for fourth on the team in scoring with three points each.
