SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University softball team returned to the field this afternoon to begin preparing for fall ball. Head coach Leigh Ross and associate head coach Kyle Jamieson are back for their second year with the Orange. This year they are joined by new assistant coach Wally King and second-year graduate assistant Abby Habicht.
The focus of the day’s practice was hitting and started off with some instruction from assistant coach King. King set up several stations around the field where the team spread out in pairs to do the different hitting drills.
“We have eight new faces joining us this year, so we will use the fall to really set the foundation for the fundamentals we will build on,” Ross said. “The first day of practice is also the time to set the tone for the rest of the season. The attitude, work ethic and enthusiasm we had at the field today was very exciting and a good indicator for the type of play we will expect from this year's team.”
