SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The #8/8 Orange (16-1, 4-0) travel to Washington, D.C. to take on BIG EAST rival #13/12 Georgetown (11-3, 2-2) on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Tip time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Verizon Center. The game begins a stretch of four consecutive contests against ranked opponents. It’s also Syracuse second consecutive road game. The Orange hasn’t played back-to-back games away from home since November when it defeated Florida and Kansas on consecutive nights to win the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic.
Wednesday’s game will be televised live nationally on ESPN2. Fans can also listen to the action via the Syracuse ISP Sports Network and its flagship station TK 99 (99.5 FM). The audio stream of the radio broadcast will be available on SUathletics.com as part of Orange All Access. The Orange dominated the second half Saturday on its way to an 82-66 victory over Rutgers. Syracuse went 16-23 (.696) from the field after halftime and held Rutgers to 28.6 percent (8-28) shooting. The Orange outscored the Scarlet Knights, 43-28, in the period to improve to 4-0 in the BIG EAST. Junior Paul Harris (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) led the team in scoring with a season-high 26 points, while junior Arinze Onuaku (Lanham, Md.) scored the first basket of the game and was 8-of-9 from the field tallying a total of 19 points. Junior Eric Devendorf (Bay City, Mich.) and sophomore Jonny Flynn (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) each finished with 15 points. Flynn had nine assists and didn’t commit a turnover. He secured a career-high seven rebounds.

He shot 68 percent from the field. Against the Blue Demons, he became the 50th player in school history to score 1,000 career points.

Georgetown features one of the nation’s top freshmen performers in forward Greg Monroe (13.5 ppg., 6.3 rpg.). Junior forward DaJuan Summers (14.7 ppg.) is the team’s top scorer. Sophomore guards Chris Wright (13.0 ppg.) and Austin Freeman (12.9 ppg.) give the Hoyas four players averaging in double digits. Those front four have started all 14 games for Georgetown. Senior Jesse Sapp (7.9 ppg.) has started 13-of-14 games.
