SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange tennis team looks to continue its winning ways at the Billie Jean King Invitational at the USTA's Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Syracuse will compete in both singles and doubles play at the three-day event beginning Saturday, October 10 and concluding Monday, October 12.
“We are excited for the opportunity to compete at the Billie Jean King Invitational Tennis Tournament this weekend,” assistant coach Shelley George said. “It is the best venue in the world where the US OPEN is held each year. It's inspiring for our athletes to compete on the same courts that the best players in the world competed on less than a month ago.”
SU has dominated opponents in singles play through the fall season; with three student-athletes capturing singles titles in just two meets. Freshman CC Sardinha and junior Simone Kalhorn each opened the season with a singles title at the Maryland Invite and won their respective singles flights at the Eastern Championships. Sophomore Emily Harman also took home a singles title at the Eastern Championships.
