Syracuse quarterback Greg Paulus completed 24-of-32 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns at Connecticut, earning BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition. The graduate student quarterback also gained 28 yards on seven carries. In 2009, Paulus set the Syracuse single-season and career records for completion percentage, connecting on 67.7 percent (193-of-258) of his passes. The previous single season record was 63.3 established by Bill Scharr (107-of-169) in 1989, while the SU career record was 59.7 set by Marvin Graves (563-of-943) from 1990-93.
Paulus' 193 completions broke the Syracuse single-season record of 186 set by R.J. Anderson in 2003 and his 2,024 passing yards ranks ninth on the SU single-season chart. He threw 13 touchdown passes, which ties for ninth on the Orange single-season record list. The Orange offense averaged 203.8 passing yards per game, which ranks eighth on the Syracuse record list. The 2,446 passing yards is sixth best in school history.
The BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition is the ninth honor for a Syracuse student-athlete in 2009. Paulus was also recognized for his performance in SU's overtime victory against Northwestern with an ESPN Helmet Sticker.
