Flynn Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore guard Jonny Flynn earned a spot on the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll for the third straight week, the conference announced on Monday. It is his fifth conference honor this season. Flynn averaged 20.5 points and 8.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week by the Orange.
On Saturday in front of a crowd of 31,841, the largest college basketball crowd this season, Flynn led the Orange with 25 points and a career-high 13 assists in a 98-94 overtime victory against rival Georgetown. After scoring only five points in the first half, Flynn added the other 20 in the second period and overtime session.
Flynn ended the night a solid 15-for-16 from the foul line and 5-for-12 from the field. He became the 51st player in program history to score 1,000 career points, joining current junior teammates Eric Devendorf and Paul Harris.
Earlier in the week, the Orange traveled faced #1/1 Connecticut where Flynn led the team with 16 points. He also registered three assists and five rebounds in the matchup.
The Niagara Falls, N.Y. native has started all 26 games this season. He leads the team in points (454), assists (158) and steals (36).
UConn's Hasheem Thabeet is the league's player of the week, while West Virginia's Devin Ebanks was named the Rookie of the Week. Joining Flynn on the honor roll were Chris Wright (Georgetown), Jerel McNeal (Marquette), Luke Harangody (Notre Dame) and Da'Sean Butler (West Virginia).
