SYRACUSE, N.Y. - #20/20 Syracuse (18-5, 6-4) looks to continue its winning ways on Saturday, Feb. 7, when it takes on #17/16 Villanova (18-4, 6-3) in a BIG EAST battle at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. The game, the first of two this season between the Orange and Wildcats, is slated to begin at 12 p.m. The Orange enters the game on a high note, having posted a convincing 74-61 victory over West Virginia on Wednesday night.
Saturday's game will be televised live nationally on ESPN. Fans can also listen to the action via the Syracuse ISP Sports Network and its flagship station TK 99 (99.5 FM). The audio stream of the radio broadcast will be available on SUathletics.com as part of Orange All Access. The game is also available on ESPN360.com

For the second consecutive contest, sophomore Jonny Flynn (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) and junior Eric Devendorf (Bay City, Mich.) took the lead offensively. The pair of Orange guards netted 22 points each against the Mountaineers with Devendorf moving into 25th place on SU's career scoring list. He now has 1,432 points. Flynn currently ranks 10th in the conference in scoring at 17.0 ppg and he was named a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award (nation's top guard) and to the Wooden Award Mid-Season Top 30 list this week.

The crowd of 21,069 also saw junior Paul Harris (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) register his eighth double-double of the season during the game, netting 14 points and collecting 13 rebounds. Harris ranks ninth in the BIG EAST in rebounding, averaging 8.5 boards per game. Also assisting on the defensive side of the ball was senior Kristof Ongenaet (Ghent, Belgium), who posted three blocks in extended action for the Orange.
The Orange outscored West Virginia, 46-20, in the paint and, 21-6, on fastbreak opportunities. Overall, SU shot 46.8 percent from the field while holding WVU to 35.8 percent, including a 25.9 percent mark from beyond the arc.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
The Wildcats enter Saturday's encounter after a tightly contested game against Providence on Wednesday. The game went down to the wire with Villanova emerging with a three-point victory, 94-91.

Junior Scottie Reynolds, the team's leading scorer from last season, led the attack for the Wildcats, tallying 31 points. In the game, Reynolds more than doubled his average offensive output for the season (15.1 ppg). He is the second-leading scorer for the Wildcats and ranks 10th in the BIG EAST in assists per game. Senior Dwayne Anderson and junior Reggie Redding both collected double-doubles for Villanova. Anderson had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Redding recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Three days before the Providence match, Villanova soundly defeated Cincinnati 71-50, powered by a 21-point effort from senior Dante Cunningham. Cunningham lead the Wildcats in scoring (17.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.3 rpg) averages. That Cincinnati victory extended the team's winning streak at its on-campus arena, The Pavilion, to 25 consecutive games.

Syracuse holds a 34-28 lead in the all-time series, however, the Wildcats have gotten the better of the Orange in Philadelphia and own a 13-10 lead in games played in the City of Brotherly Love. Villanova has won five of the last seven meetings between the two teams.
