SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The #18/20 Orange (23-8) locked up the sixth spot in the final BIG EAST Conference standings by winning at Marquette on Saturday, 86-79 in overtime. The Orange received a first-round bye in the conference tournament and will meet 11th-seeded Seton Hall (17-14) at Madison Square Garden. The Orange and Pirates are slated to play the final game of the tournament's second round on Wednesday, March 11 at approximately 9 p.m.
Wednesday's matchup will be televised live nationally on ESPN. Fans can also catch the action on the radio live via the Syracuse ISP Sports Network and its flagship station TK 99 (99.5 FM). Live streaming audio of the game will be available online on SUathletics.com as part of Orange All Access.
Syracuse already has a regular-season victory against the Pirates. Syracuse opened the conference campaign by defeating Seton Hall in the Carrier Dome, 100-76.

Syracuse is 42-24 all-time in the BIG EAST Tournament. Its 42 tournament wins ranks second in the league behind Georgetown's 45 triumphs. The only other time Syracuse was the tournament's sixth seed was in 1981 and the Orange fared well, winning its first tournament championship with an 83-80 triple-overtime victory against Villanova in the Carrier Dome. Overall, the Orange has won the tournament crown five times, including back-to-back championships in 2005 and 2006.

FLYNN NAMED TO ALL-BIG EAST SECOND TEAM
Sophomore point guard Jonny Flynn was named to the All-BIG EAST Conference Second Team on Sunday in a vote by the league's head coaches. Joining Flynn on the second team were: A.J. Price (Connecticut), Wesley Matthews (Marquette), Dante Cunningham (Villanova) and Da'Sean Butler (West Virginia). Cunningham was tabbed as the conference's Most Improved Player.

SCOUTING SETON HALL
Seton Hall ended its five-game BIG EAST Tournament losing streak on Tuesday with a 68-54 victory over USF. It was the second straight win for the Pirates, who defeated Cincinnati, 67-63, in their regular-season finale. This is the second straight year that the Pirates have earned the No. 11 seed.

The Pirates are led by third team All-BIG EAST selection Jeremy Hazell (22.5 ppg.), a 6-5 sophomore guard. Hazell ranked second in the league in scoring behind Notre Dame's Luke Harangody during the regular season and he scored 23 points Tuesday against USF. The team's other primary scoring threats are junior forward Robert Mitchell (14.7 ppg) and junior guard Eugene Harvey (12.7 ppg). Harvey chipped in 16 points versus the Bulls. Mitchell is also the team leader in rebounding (7.9 rpg).
Seton Hall is 20-26 all-time at the BIG EAST Championship and is 72-91 all-time at Madison Square Garden. Its win on Tuesday was its first in the conference tournament since defeating Miami in the first round in 2003.
THE SERIES
Syracuse has a 42-15 advantage in the all-time series with Seton Hall. The Orange has captured seven of the last nine pairings with the Pirates. SU has won three-of-five matchups with Seton Hall in the BIG EAST Tournament. The last time the two rivals met in the event was in the 1994 quarterfinals.
