Head Coach Doug Marrone Interview Transcript
Orange head coach Doug Marrone hosted a special guest at Spring practice on Monday, welcoming his high school coach, Carmine Colasanto, onto the Carrier Dome field for an up close look at Marrone's Syracuse squad. Marrone credits Colasanto and his Syracuse head coach, Dick MacPherson, for the foundation of his career path.
“Yes, yes it was," said Marrone, smiling, when asked about his visitor. "That was my high school coach, Carmine Colasanto, who, if any of you guys have heard me speak before, it all started with him. Then it went from him and it was passed on from Coach (Dick) MacPherson. Those two coaches are an extremely important part of who I am today."
Marrone is anxious to have many visitors to practice, including those who have influenced his football life, high school coaches, and all Orange football fans.
“It's always good to have people around and it's always good to have you (the media) around. It really is," Marrone said. "And the fans who want to come out and see practice. We don't have anything to hide. We're putting out a football team that we all want to be proud of. I want everyone to make sure they know how hard these players work to achieve success on Saturdays."
The Orange will take the field for the 10th Spring practice session on Wednesday, April 8. The Orange will wrap up Spring practice with the annual Spring Game on April 18 (Carrier Dome, 1:00 p.m., free admission).
The 2009 Orange begin the season on September 5 against Minnesota in the Carrier Dome. Season tickets can be ordered online and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (888-DOMETIX).
