
Harried, Team USA Prep For Under 16 Games

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Former SU standout Herman Harried, the head coach at Lake Clifton High School (Md.), is an assistant coach with the USA Basketball Men's Developmental Team. The squad is in Colorado Springs preparing for the 2009 FIBA Americas Under-16 Championshipfor Men hosted by Mendoza, Argentina, from June 17-21. The top three finishing nations will qualify to compete in the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championship in Hamburg, Germany.
Training camp ran from June 6 to June 12 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Preliminary round-robin play is scheduled for June 17-19. The top two teams from each preliminary group advances to the June 20 semifinals. The gold and bronze medal games are the following day.
Harried was part of four NCAA Tournament teams at Syracuse, including the 1986-87 squad that reached the NCAA championship game before losing to Indiana, 74-73. He went on to play professionally in Europe for five seasons.
He has guided Lake Clifton to a 237-78 record in his 12 seasons. Harried's clubs have won two Maryland state titles, four regional championships and four Baltimore City crowns.
