Mr. Desko Goes To Washington - Again

For the second summer in a row, Orange head coach John Desko and his NCAA title-winning men's lacrosse team will visit the nation's capital as guests of Washington, D.C.'s elite.
Last year, the 2008 squad toured the White House and met President George W. Bush as part of the NCAA Day of Champions. This time, the Orange will celebrate its latest championship as guests of Vice President Joe Biden, a 1968 graduate of the Syracuse University College of Law, at a private reception on Wednesday, June 24.
The team is scheduled to meet the vice president at his ceremonial office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building before adjourning to his residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory for the reception. In addition, Biden has arranged a private White House tour for the team on Thursday morning.
The invitation to the nation's capital is the latest tie between Biden and this year's Orange stickmen. On May 10, Biden delivered the commence address to the University's 2009 graduates at the Carrier Dome hours before the Orange's NCAA Tournament win there against Siena. He also personally called to congratulate Desko the day after the team's stunning come-from-behind win against Cornell in the national championship game.
