SYRACUSE, NY -- The Syracuse men's basketball team is scheduled to host Cornell on Tuesday, November 24, in the Carrier Dome. It marks the second straight year the two squads have met.
Syracuse has an 85-31 advantage in the all-time series with Cornell, including an 88-78 victory last year. The Orange has won the last 31 consecutive pairings with the Big Red.
Cornell is coming off one of the most successful seasons in program history. The Big Red were 21-10 overall and captured the Ivy League title with an 11-3 record. Cornell won back-to-back league championships and earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament for two straight years for the first time. Coach Steve Donahue has all five starters back on the roster.
Syracuse is also scheduled to play in the 2009 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The Orange will host two opponents in the Carrier Dome and then advance to the Classic semifinals and final at Madison Square Garden. California, North Carolina and Ohio State are the other programs slated for the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic semifinals.
The Orange is also competing in the BIG EAST/SEC Challenge and will play Florida in Tampa on Dec. 10.
One other Syracuse game has been announced – the Orange will host ESPN GameDay and Villanova on February 27 in the Dome.
